Your health. Your goals. Your treatment
Whether you've come for pain, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum care or another health concern, your first appointment is an opportunity to understand what has brought you in and what you hope to achieve.
Before your treatment begins, I'll take the time to listen, ask questions and complete an individual assessment. While your main concern remains the focus, looking at your health more broadly often provides valuable information that helps guide treatment.
Following your assessment, I'll explain the treatment I recommend, why I've chosen that approach and answer any questions you may have. Treatment is always provided with your understanding and consent.
Depending on your individual presentation, treatment may include acupuncture, cupping, tuina, moxibustion, dietary or lifestyle advice.
What happens before my first appointment?
After booking, you'll receive an online health questionnaire.
Completing this before your appointment gives me an overview of your
health history and allows us to spend more of your appointment discussing
your concerns and beginning treatment.
To help you feel comfortable during treatment, please:
-
Have a light meal or snack at least 30 minutes before your appointment.
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
-
Bring any relevant blood test results, scans or specialist letters if you'd like me to review them.
-
If you're attending under ACC, please bring your accepted ACC45 claim number.
What happens during my consultation?
Your initial appointment is approximately one hour and includes both your consultation and treatment.
We'll begin by discussing the reason you've come in, your current symptoms and what you're hoping to achieve.
I'll also ask about other aspects of your health that may be relevant, including your medical history, medications, sleep, digestion, energy and lifestyle.
Depending on your presentation, your assessment may also include:
-
Tongue diagnosis
-
Pulse diagnosis
-
Muscle testing or movement assessment where appropriate
This information helps me develop a treatment plan that is individual to you while keeping your main concern at the centre of your care.

How do you decide on my treatment?
No two appointments are exactly the same.
After your consultation and assessment, I'll recommend the treatment I believe is most appropriate for you on the day. I'll explain what I recommend, why I've chosen that approach and what you can expect before we begin.
Treatment may change as your symptoms improve or your health changes.
What treatment might I receive?
Your treatment may include one or a combination of therapies.

Acupuncture
Fine, sterile, single-use needles are inserted into carefully selected acupuncture points based on your assessment and treatment goals.

Cupping
Glass or silicone cups create gentle suction over the skin and underlying tissues. Cupping is commonly used to help release muscle tension and improve circulation. Temporary circular marks can occur and will be discussed with you beforehand.

Tuina/Massage
A hands-on Chinese therapeutic massage that helps relieve muscular tension, improve movement and support recovery.

Dietary and lifestyle
advice
Where appropriate, I may also provide practical advice around food, sleep, movement and lifestyle to help support your treatment between appointments.

Moxibustion
A warming therapy using dried mugwort. Moxa may be used during treatment or recommended for home use where appropriate, such as for breech presentation during pregnancy.
Will I have time to relax?
Absolutely!
Once your treatment has been completed, you'll have time to rest quietly. Many people find this to be one of the most restorative parts of their appointment.
